Dropping the pan...

Draining the "ink"

This illustrates perfectly why we should open the engine after so many year of storage. The oil turned to goo. The consistency is like a thick apple sauce or a fluid peanut butter.

The same in the oil filter cup. Starting an engine with this will be a bad idea. The detergent in the new oil will dilute this and it will circulate all over the engine damaging the bearings and provoking sticky valves.

Looking better?

The timing chain cover.

I will check the chain condition.

After a good cleaning...

And a quick spray.

The pan is dirty as expected.

The engine is not bad looking.

Another bolt to extract.

Some corrosion there. I might have to address this before getting a leak while the engine is in the car.
